The annual joint children and adults conference is organised by the LSCBs and the Safeguarding Adults Board in the West of Berkshire.
This year the theme was mental health and the programme included keynote presentations from Dr Gohula-Thevan from Berkshire Healthcare Foundation Trust exploring mental health versus mental illness, and a powerful presentation of his personal experience from Thomas Jordan, co-founder of SANE, the Oxford Mental Health Support Network. Becky Herron gave an overview of local support services and referral routes. Andrea King gave an overview of the Emotional Health Academy. Delegates were also able to attend a range of workshops addressing safeguarding in relation to neurological conditions; self-neglect and hoarding; self-harm including a self-harm prevention plan; bullying; and attachment and trauma.
